Last week, we hung out with Hannah + Brett to celebrate their engagement! Woo! It was the perfect summer day… the sun was shining… there was a warm breeze…mmm! :) These two love to spend time outdoors – whether it is taking hikes together or playing catch in the back yard, or going to Tigers’ games… they love it all! So when Hannah suggested that we shoot their engagement pictures at Kensington MetroPark and bring along some baseball equipment… I could hardly wait! I love when couples suggest tailoring their engagement pictures around places + activities that they love… it tells a bit more of who they are and it makes the whole experience that much more meaningful.
I’ve known Hannah for over 15 years (what!?), but getting to know these two as a couple has been such a gift. We are SO excited to be a part of their wedding in August… it’s going to be a good, good day. :)
Today, we are thrilled to introduce Melissa + Ron’s to the blog! :) These two are a delight to be around, they compliment each other perfectly, and they make a great team. They are both so kind, so loving, and respect each other deeply. Spending time with them is an encouragement + a joy and each time we’ve hung out together, Jonathan + I have left them with smiles on our faces + our hearts full.
In July, after almost two years together, they will become husband + wife as they step into the awesome adventure of marriage together! Woo! What a day it will be! We can’t WAIT to celebrate with them!
When is sunny, humid, and 90 degrees… OF COURSE you end the session with ice cream ;)
Well, the 2016 wedding season is HERE. In full force. And, so far, it’s been AMAZING. I’m little slow on getting the blog up to speed as we transition into the summer months – but DON’T WORRY, I have a steady stream of weddings coming your way! :)
You may recognize these two from their summer engagement session on Lake Michigan. About a month ago, on a chilly spring Saturday, Ben + Jill got married!! I’m a little bias, because Jill is my beautiful cousin – but we couldn’t have asked for a better wedding to kick off the season! The bridal party was super chill + fun, there were no mishaps, the rain pretty much held off for us… but most importantly, Ben + Jill FINALLY became husband + wife! The celebration happened just outside Kalamazoo, Michigan – near Ben’s family cottage! The day was filled with laughter, smiles, happy tears, and memorable moments as Ben + Jill finally said “I do” after SEVEN years together. Needless to say, Everyone was pumped to celebrate with them!
Ben + Jill, thank-you for inviting us to photograph your wedding story. It means the world to us to be a part of it + we hope these images bring you smiles for the rest of your lives. Cheers, friends! <3 The ceremony was held at Doster Community Reformed Church in Plainwell, Michigan.Dinner + dancing followed at The Fountains Banquet Center in Parchment, Michigan. It was a great venue and provided a great space to celebrate together! Jill’s sisters surprised her with their own rendition of “Sisters” from White Christmas ;)
These two met in possibly the sweetest way. You see, a few years ago, Mark purchased an old house in Grand Rapids and began renovating it into a bed + breakfast. Haley’s parents, recent empty nesters, purchased the house next door. Haley, upon visiting her parents, met Mark – and many conversations were started across the fence in the backyard. She was immediately smitten and found herself making any excuse she could to run into Mark when she would visit her parents. The feeling was mutual, and eventually, Mark mustered up the courage to ask her out. Their first date was right there – cooking dinner + playing board games in the kitchen of the B&B. They hit it off pretty quickly – finding they had a ton of shared interests + values. After about a year full of dating, traveling, and growing together, Mark proposed to Haley! They are planning a fall wedding – and every detail seems perfectly fitting for them!
We have had such a great time getting to know Haley + Mark over the past few months – and we can hardly wait to celebrate their marriage with them! But first, we had to celebrate their engagement – in the backyard where they met (duh!), and then also at Mark’s grandmother’s orchard. It was a pretty fantastic morning! Here are just a few of my favorites… ;)
A couple weeks ago, Jonathan + I spent a warm, spring afternoon wandering around Eastown in Grand Rapids, Michigan with Riley + Rodney. Not only are these two SO much fun, but they also respect + care for each other deeply and love each other immensely. Spending a couple hours with them in the sunshine, exploring the city, and eating ice cream was the perfect way to celebrate their engagement. In June, they will become husband + wife – and we know it is going to be a wonderful day!
