A few weeks ago, before the snow began to leave us, I hung out with Tina + Dan for a mini winter session. I mean, who doesn’t like hanging out in a cozy coffee shop and climbing on top of tall buildings and throwing snow at each other? Yea, it was a fun morning :)
Can’t wait for these two to tie the knot – NEXT MONTH! Woo!
I met Jillian when I was in high school. She was the sister of the woman my brother was marrying. So, by association, we became family when our siblings got married (that’s a thing, right? :) ). What I came to learn about Jillian (and it still continues to ring true) is that she is the epitome of a sweetheart – kind, thoughtful, intentional + caring. She is a confident + determined young woman, yet she always has a smile on her face. She is engaged to a handsome + loving guy name John. I’ve only known John for a few months, but in our few conversations + interactions, I admire his selflessness + graciousness. He also is kind + thoughtful and he is filled with integrity. Getting to know these two as a couple has been an absolute delight. I love the way they can make each other laugh, the way they encourage each other and how the care deeply for each other and those around them. In May, they will become husband + wife and I’m honored that they asked me to be there to capture their story for them.
Today, I’d love to share some favorites from their snowy winter engagement session. When they asked for winter engagement pictures, we all wanted snow… and we sure got that! We actually had to reschedule this session TWICE before we had an afternoon that was warm (enough) and safe (enough) to be outside. I’m thankful we had a beautiful sunny day when our shoot finally happened :) Enjoy!
When Kelsey + I talked about her + Tanner’s love story in our initial conversations, I couldn’t have been more excited to be a part of their day. Kelsey told me about their happenstance meeting and how it was love at first sight. There was an instant connection and she was immediately drawn to his personality, his character and his hopes for the future. When they began dating several months later, they were a long distance couple… for a while. He was at school in Chicago, she was in Indiana. She spent a semester in Zambia and then he spent the summer in India… all the while they were continuing to fall deeper in love with each other. However, despite the distance, it was clear that they were meant to be together and this past June, on the shores of Lake Michigan, Tanner proposed and they began to plan their January wedding.
Last month, Tanner + Kelsey became husband + wife in one of the most beautiful, holy, endearing celebrations that I’ve ever been witness to. I was smiling + tearing up all day long as I interacted with them, their bridal party and their loved ones. Tanner + Kelsey have a deep sense of their identity as individuals and as a couple and it was so encouraging to see them boldly move forward into marriage together. I’m excited to see where this journey takes them and I’m grateful I was able to be there to capture it when it began. :) Congratulations, Tanner + Kelsey!!

Well folks, Happy Valentine’s Day! :) Today, on this day that the world celebrates love, I want to share a personal post featuring my family – some of the most important people in my life! This past summer, my entire immediate family carved out a weekend to spend together. Now, this is no easy feat. At the time, we had 10 adults, 11 kiddos, several different jobs and travel + sports schedules to manage, yet we were able to pencil off a few days to share some space together. We packed up and headed to “the Thumb” to spend a few days at my grandparents cottage on Lake Huron. This place is a nostalgic + cozy – it’s been in the family for over 25 years. The cottage is nothing fancy, but it’s absolutely perfect and I loved watching my nieces + nephews explore the landscape as I did many, many years ago. It was one of my favorite weekends of the summer and I’m so thankful we were able to create some memories and celebrate our love as a family.
So today, here’s to love – the love of family, the love of friends, the love of a spouse, partner, children, co-workers… whatever love you can celebrate today, celebrate it. And, in case that’s not enough, here’s to summer and sunshine… and the promise that it will return… soon. :)
You may remember Brandon + Julianne from their lovely summer engagement session . Well, a few weeks ago, these two became husband + wife. It was a chilly, wintery Saturday and absolutely wonderful in every way.
Brandon + Julianne wed at the church where Julianne grew up – Faith Covenant Church in Farmington, Michigan. After the beautiful, heart-warming ceremony, the celebration continued in Dearborn at the historic Lovett Hall on the campus of The Henry Ford. This was my first time shooting at this venue, and it did not disappoint! The entire evening was amazing – from the lively cocktail hour to the heartfelt toasts, the delicious dinner and dancing that lasted into the night. It was a spectacular event, but more importantly, I was so touched by the way Brandon + Julianne love each other and the way their family + friends support them and their marriage. It was evident throughout the day as joy + laughter permeated every moment.
Brandon + Julianne, I am so grateful for the two of you, the love you share and the way you welcomed me into the celebration and treated me like a dear friend. It was an honor to be a witness to your union and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share your story today. Congratulations, you two! :)
