eric + leslie // fox hills summerhouse wedding, plymouth, michigan

We are SO excited to share this wedding with you today! It’s been great getting to know Eric + Leslie through their engagement + wedding process. We knew their wedding was going to be awesome, not only because of who they are, but also because of the love they have for their family + friends and their desire to throw a sweet party. And let me tell you, this wedding did not disappoint! Everything went off without a hitch, their guests were all so fun, and the party was LEGIT… I mean, they even supplied temporary tattoos of their faces!! C’mon! So great! To top it off, the weather was perfect for an outdoor summer wedding. The day couldn’t have been better!

But most importantly, these two committed to a forever partnership together and that is truly the reason we love to do what we do…and why we were so pumped to celebrate with them. Standing beside Eric + Leslie as they promised their love + vows was beautiful to witness. It seriously never gets old for us.

Thanks for inviting us into your celebration + story, Eric + Leslie! We were so honored to be there – and we wish you a marriage full of love + adventure. Cheers!

Leslie’s dad passed away last summer, and in his honor, they incorporated a few of his accessories into the wedding decor… one of which was his tie, used to wrap Leslie’s bouquet… oh, the sweetest. marty + molly // metro detroit wedding photography

Remember this fall engagement session on-campus at GVSU? Well these two “college sweethearts” officially became husband + wife last month in Rochester Hills just a few miles from where they will share their first home together! It was a beautiful summer day – filled with lots of sunshine, and zero threat of rain – which was perfect for their outdoor ceremony in the park! I loved all the details that went into the wedding – from the arch made by Molly’s dad to all the DIY centerpieces to the delicious dessert table filled with all sorts of treats. Molly + Marty put a lot of thought + effort into this day to make it a special celebration and it turned out so wonderfully!

Congratulations, you two! Thank-you for allowing us to photograph your wedding story!! jen + tom // ypsilanti engagement photography

We met Jen + Tom met in Ypsilanti a few weeks back for their engagement session. Jen’s daughter, Ava, joined in for the fun, too! Since their wedding will be downtown in the city, they chose a couple of their favorite parks for the session.

The forecast was generally in our favor, until about an hour before the shoot when it became clear that we may get a little rain. But, it seemed like it would be short-lived, and it was worth moving forward with the plan… being prepared with umbrellas, just in case! Then, minutes before they arrived at the park, the clouds opened up and there was a torrential downpour like only a Michigan Summer can bring. Fortunately, as predicted, it was a short storm – and we were able to continue with the plan with only a few minute delay. Plus, the passing storm provided us with some ridiculously awesome clouds for a bit!

Jen + Tom – we are so happy that you’ve found each other and that you’re taking this leap into marriage together. We think you two are such a good team, and so good for each other. We can’t wait to celebrate in Detroit with you two next month! <3 Jen + Tom Engagement

rodney + riley // lake huron wedding celebration

On this Saturday, the sun was shining… the sky was blue… and the Lake was sparkling like the Caribbean. As we drove up north, through quiet lake towns… I reflected on what it as like to go to my grandparents’ cottage on the lake. To spend long weekends there during the summer… with aunts, uncles, and cousins all around… to eat ice cream cones as big as your face… to jump into the Great Lake and stay outside from breakfast until dinner. I’m sure my experience wasn’t exactly the same as Riley’s, but we can definitely agree that there’s something special about spending time at your grandparents’ house… isn’t there? And when your grandparents’ house is on the coast of Lake Huron, you may even dream about getting married there someday… ;)

Rodney + Riley, thank-you for inviting us north – to Grandma’s house on the lake. It was so special to witness the two of you speak your vows + commit your lives to each other in front of family + friends, on the property that’s so dear to you, with Lake Huron as the backdrop. It was a perfect day and we were so honored to celebrate alongside of you. Cheers to many, many years, you two!

There were SO many special details to this day – including the fact that Riley wore her mother’s wedding dress! She had it altered perfectly for her!

matt + allie // ann arbor, michigan wedding photography

There’s something about the rain. Sure, it has its negative qualities… but at its best, it is peaceful, soothing, and brings life to the earth. It is joyful + beautiful. It has a hint of mystery + magic. And often, it is romantic.

Matt + Allie are no strangers to rain. In most of their major relationship moments, when events couldn’t be rescheduled – it rained. At their prom… at their proposal… during their engagement pictures… and even at their wedding. But these two? They have embraced the rain. Even when the rain tried to ruin their dreams for an outdoor ceremony… they did it anyways (see below!). They’ve embraced those positive qualities about the rain – and adventured on.

And really, that’s a healthy perspective to have as one enters marriage – or any relationship! Truth be told, the days are not all going to be filled with sunshine + goodness. The rain is going to come – whether it is a spontaneous storm or clouds that linger. But when the rain comes, we have a choice on how we can respond. Hopefully, we can find the strength + bravery to embrace it, push through it, and feel the raindrops until the sun comes again. When we do, life feels a bit more full + peaceful + magical. Wouldn’t you agree?

Matt + Allie – thank-you for embracing the rain. Congratulations, you two! <3 June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016

The radar was not our friend that day. It was going to rain… and then not going to rain… and then it was going to be a short storm… and then the rain was going to last all night. It was so hard to make a plan! All we knew was that Allie had been dreaming of an outdoor ceremony… and we all wanted to make that happen! But as the guests began to arrive, and the clouds rolled in… it was clear that it couldn’t happen very easily. With some swift decision making, and adventurous spirits, Matt + Allie opted for a short, outdoor ceremony with just a few witnesses. The boys hopped into a golf cart with the pastor and drove out to a large oak tree by the halfway house. The girls followed a few minutes later – there, under the umbrella of the leaves, Matt + Allie became husband + wife. It was sacred, intimate, and perfect. After they said, “I do” – everyone returned to the clubhouse where the guests were seated. Ceremony #2 commenced – this time the full version with the special readings + songs + message, etc.:)June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016June 4, 2016
