As I sat down and gathered images for this blog post, I couldn’t help but smile. Matt + Jackie are absolutely delightful…and I’m so grateful our paths crossed!
Matt + Jackie are both easy going and super fun to be around, but they also think the world of each other and love being together. I remember our first meeting – we met in downtown Grand Rapids on a chilly fall evening. We talked about their lives and their love – what brought them together (MSU Freshman dorms… and a mutual interest in the band Flogging Molly) and what has kept them together over the last decade. Through long distances, job changes, grief and triumphs, these two have stuck it out and proved that they have what it takes to jump into marriage wholeheartedly. It has been so wonderful to get to know these two over the last several months and I was eagerly anticipating their wedding!
Matt + Jackie got married where it all began… Michigan State University. They chose to have their ceremony in the MSU Alumni Chapel and then we drove all over campus for portraits. The reception was held at the beautiful Eagle Eye Golf Course just north of campus in Bath, MI. It was a gorgeous day through and through and I’m excited to share a glimpse into their wedding with you today.
Pie instead of cake? Yes, that’s ok. And dinosaur toppers? Yes, also ok – and a total surprise for Matt. And yes, the DJ did play the “Jurassic Park” theme song as they cut the pie.
And then there was that moment where we snuck away and snapped a few more portraits as the sun set PERFECTLY. Yea, I liked that part of the day, too ;)
Matt + Jackie – thank-you SO much for inviting me to be a part of your day. You two are awesome – and I love the way you made your wedding day unique to the two of you + your love. Congratulations, again!!
