Today, I am excited to share with you my final wedding for 2014! It happened a few weeks ago in the lovely city of Grand Rapids. I may be bias, but I personally am a fan of November weddings (our anniversary is November 28!). There is just something about those final fall days. There’s a quietness to November – midterms are over, apple season is ending and it’s the calm before the bustle of the holiday season. Yes, the weather can be iffy, but the air is crisp, the grass is still green and some color still clings to the trees. It’s as if the earth is saying, “Hold on, winter… we’re not ready for you, yet!”
This November day was one of the chillier ones… gray and threatening rain. But you know what? Nick + Erin rolled with it and despite the gloomy forecast, it was an absolutely beautiful celebration. They wed at North Park Presbyterian Church on the northeast side of Grand Rapids – it was the church that Erin grew up at and where her brother had married just a few years prior. The reception was held at the always impressive Bissell Tree House at the John Ball Zoo – the perfect venue for this nature-loving duo!
Nick + Erin are absolutely delightful humans. They are both kind, loyal, intelligent and laid back. They’ve been together for over seven years and their relationship has weathered undergrad, post-grad, moves, internships and job changes. With every interaction I’ve had with them, it’s obvious that they are meant for each other. They are completely comfortable together and they just “click”… you know what I mean? Getting to know the two of them has truly been an honor… and photographing their first day of marriage was an even greater joy. <3 Erin’s dress was absolutely perfect for her… and a dream to photograph. I mean, look at that lace! And those buttons! Ah!
