From what I could tell, it seemed like there was not a dry eye in the room. The bride’s dad held the microphone as he admonished and uplifted the newlywed couple. This father had a tradition with his daughter, the bride – to write her a letter at special times in her life. Without breaking tradition, he had written one to her for the wedding week. At the bride’s request, he waited until the wedding day to read it to her.

The bride’s dad laughed and fought back tears as he read a letter the letter aloud to his daughter (and all the guests in attendance). This letter shared memorable and specific moments of his life as her dad… from the day she was born, to the day she fell in love, to her wedding day. His words were touching, sincere and the perfect cap to an already beautiful celebration. Just a few hours before, that bride committed forever to her groom. Though it was evident from the first few times I had met this couple and the hours leading up the reception, her dad’s blessing solidified it; David and Taylor were meant for each other. Even before they publicly stated their vows, these two showed a deep commitment and love towards each other.

David and Taylor were married at Kentwood Christian Church and celebrated with their family and friends in the Wege Ballroom on the campus of Aquinas College. It was an honor to witness this union. Here are just a few of my favorites from their Grand Rapids summer wedding…

Before I left, I had to sneak out with the newlyweds and their little girl, Annabelle…

David and Taylor, I wish you both the best as you enjoy your first stages of marriage and as you continue to be awesome parents to your beautiful daughter. Thanks for letting me capture your wedding day for you!
