As I write this, I’m listening to an evening storm roll into town. The rain falling on the pavement is soothing and the lightening patterns are delightful entertainment as I write and edit. I welcome the midweek storm since the last couple storms have been on wedding Saturdays. (Don’t worry… no brides were harmed and beautiful images were still made despite the inconvenient monsoons.)

I thought I’d let you (whoever you may be) know where I have been the past couple weeks. I’ve been uncharacteristically absent from the blog world since August began and yes, I have been chastised from a few faithful followers. I apologize. It was not my intention to get behind in blogging, but with a full schedule of sessions and weddings and editing and normal life, it got put on the back burner. And frankly, there have been a couple times that I have chosen to take an adventure instead of blogging (my boss said it was ok ;)).

It’s hard to believe that August is drawing to a close. I have caught myself telling people that, “this summer has flown by!” However, when I stop to think about it, Jonathan and I have really been able to make the most of these past few months. We’ve been to Tennessee to my cousin’s wedding and to Washington to visit my little brother and his wife-to-be. We’ve been to Northern Michigan a few times and we’ve been across the state more times than I can count. I went to the NKOTBSB show with one of my best friends. Jonathan and I actually went to the beach at least 8 times (much better than last summer). We had EVERY Sunday off and took many naps, bike rides and walks through our neighborhood. We went to a Tigers’ game and Cedar Point (America’s Roller Coast!). We bought local delights at the farmers market a few times, and ate out too many times. I suffered from a couple sunburns and got poison ivy… but that just means, it was a good summer.

No, summer is definitely not over, yet, and as much as I can, I’m going to soak up the remaining sunshine and warm temperatures. I plan to return to regular blogging VERY soon (hopefully next week)… ok?? :) Thanks for following along, friends… and I hope you enjoy these last summer days as well!

And, because this IS a photo blog… here are a few snapshots from last week’s adventures in Northern Michigan… First, hanging out on Lake Charlevoix in Boyne City:

Next, a spontaneous tour of Old Mission Peninsula in Grand Traverse Bay:
