A couple weeks ago, on one of the hottest days of July, I had the privilege to spend a morning with Jorie, Justin and their three little girls. Upon meeting this beautiful family downtown, I was instantly refreshed by their spirit and love for each other and for life. This was refreshing partly because its true and partly because because I know that this past year has been very difficult for the five of them. You see, you won’t be able to tell in the pictures, but the oldest daughter – sweet Lydia – is living with Type 1 Diabetes. I didn’t chat too much about the disease or how their day-to-day life is affected by it during the session, because I wanted the girls (all three of them) to be able to have some time to laugh and smile and be sisters. However, I know it has been a hard year with the new routines and precautions they have to take for Lydia. It was so encouraging to see their closeness and love as a family and Lydia’s joy for life through it all.

Despite the heat, it was a beautiful morning and I truly enjoyed getting to know this family more. A a special thanks to Leah from Healing with Hope and Happiness for setting me up with them. Ladies and gentlemen… meet the Harris family!
